The Snatra Pooja is a significant ritual in Jainism that holds great importance.
In a very poetic style, Snatra Pooja has been crafted, depicting the celebration of two auspicious events (Kalyanaks) in the last life of Tirthankar Bhagwan. This Pooja and celebration are dedicated to all Tirthankars, not specific to any one. The Pooja recounts the two Kalyanaks, namely Chyavan (conception) and Janma (birth) of Tirthankar, which mark the climax of the Tirthankar’s soul and its attainment of liberation from the cycle of life and death (Moksha). This Pooja recital elaborates on the profound impact of Bhagawan’s birth on the entire universe, narrating the magnificence of the occasion and the shared joy among all living souls, including heavenly beings. Finally, the Pooja concludes with Asht Prakari Pooja, extending wishes of Shanti (peace) to all living beings, and celebrating the event through Aarti, Mangal Divo, Shanti Kalash, and Chaitya Vandan.
Overall, Snatra Pooja plays a vital role in Jainism by serving as a means of spiritual purification, a source of guidance, and a way to foster unity and devotion within the Jain community.
